Gary T. McCabe, B.A. Cultural Anthropology, has been studying cross cultural human development and healing since the mid 1970's. He studied Anthropology, Yoga Psychology and Human Development with Dr. A.K.B. Pillai, which included cross cultural field study in India, Europe and America. Gary began Taijiquan in 1980, was certified in Massage in 1981 and has trained with Masters of Yoga, Meditation, Qigong, Indigenous Healing and Internal Martial Arts since 1974.
Mr. McCabe studied for over a 10 years each with:
Dr. James Kan, former surgeon from Beijing and NY licensed Acupuncturist, who is highly accomplished in several internal martial arts, Meditation and Yiquan,
Master Pin-Yin Li, who has practiced Yang Taijiquan for over 50 years, and
Virginia Sandlin, Cherokee/Irish mystic whose body of work included Quantum Ethics and The Sandlin Technique. He studied Qigong, Taijiquan, Baguazhang and Qigong Tuina in Manhattan's Chinatown for over 5 years and is certified in both Qigong bodywork (tuina) and Qigong. Gary has been authorized to teach Yiquan for Health by Dr. James Kan, 4th generation Yiquan teacher.
Mr.McCabe has taught at major Corporations, Hospitals, Health and Community Centers for over 30 years. He has taught nationally and internationally, including Costa Rica, Baja California and the Dominican Republic. Gary designed and taught successful Mind Body Wellness Programs for Mountainside Hospital and Chilton Hospital's New Vitality Program. He was an Acupressure, Qigong and Taijiquan instructor at two massage schools and The Institute for Continuing Education in Fairfield, NJ. His programs there are approved for CEU's by the Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy and Dental Boards.
Gary was a Massage Therapist for 20 years with specialties in Acupressure, Tuina and Applied Qigong Therapy. He trained extensively in many healing modalities, including Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Polarity Therapy, Reiki and The Sandlin Technique.
More recently, Gary was the Holistic Program Director at New Pathway Counseling Center (Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation) for 5 years (until Covid 19). He designed and implemented Qigong, Taijiquan and Meditation training for staff and participants at their locations. He presented Seminars in Florida to the staff of one of the largest Rehabilitation Centers in the US.
Gary now provides weekly virtual and live Qigong, Taijiquan and Wellness Programs. He is the founder of www.relaxrenew.com/.
